UK Quiz Results, Week of 12-16 Oct: Every Weekday Quiz, Day by Day

The gist: Monday 12 October ran to the billed pattern. On BBC Two, University Challenge reached the end of its first round with SOAS against Edinburgh; the one results table that has the match lists a 240–80 SOAS win, and a second source hadn't added it late that night. Only Connect and Mastermind went out as scheduled with no published winners. Pointless on BBC One was a repeat, Series 30, Episode 25, and ITV1 kept Deal or No Deal at 4pm with The Chase at 5pm.

One page carries all five days. A cell gets a result only when two independent sources agree on it, and the rows for Tuesday to Friday were filled in as far as the published schedules allowed.

Who won University Challenge on Monday 12 October?

SOAS University of London, by the only score published so far. The series' Wikipedia results table lists SOAS 240, University of Edinburgh 80, and the BBC billed the match as the one that concludes the first round, with Amol Rajan asking the questions. The independent archive we use as a second check hadn't listed it when we looked late on Monday night, so the score stays provisional on this page.

The 5 October match is still in the same position. Wikipedia has Glasgow 235, Goldsmiths 90; the archive's results page had not added it when we looked again on Friday 16 October, nor on Wednesday 28 October. For the 8.30pm slot and how long the episode stays on iPlayer, see our University Challenge time guide.

Did anyone beat the Chaser on Monday?

We can't tell you, as ITV puts no result out. ITV's guide for Monday 12 October has the 5pm Chase on ITV1, but neither it nor the show's official YouTube channel carries a final-chase score, so the Chase column reads "outcome not confirmed" rather than a name or a number. The start time and the streaming options are in how to watch The Chase.

What was on BBC One and BBC Two besides Pointless?

Bridge of Lies went out at 4.30pm on BBC One, Series 5, Episode 18, with friends Karen, Andrew, Mary and Arwel taking on the bridge. BBC Two's evening ran House of Games at 6pm (Week 3, Monday, with Chizzy Akudolu, Stephen Bailey, Banjo Beale and Philippa Dunne), then Mastermind Episode 12 at 7.30pm. The BBC lists The Lord of the Rings and the PDC World Darts Championship among the specialist subjects. Only Connect followed at 8pm with Frenemies against Sinistrals, and nobody has published who went through.

Times for each are on our pages for Mastermind, Only Connect, House of Games and Bridge of Lies.

Is Pointless a repeat this week?

On Monday 12 October it was. The BBC One schedule lists Series 30, Episode 25 at 5.15pm, marked as a repeat, which follows the Series 30, Episode 24 repeat in the same slot on Friday 9 October. Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 October were repeats too: the BBC One schedule lists Series 30, Episodes 26, 27 and 28 at 5.15pm, each marked as a repeat. Friday's row fills in once the day has gone out. The guide to the current run is at Pointless on BBC One and iPlayer.

Who is in Countdown's Dictionary Corner this week?

Nicki Chapman on Monday 12 October, as Channel 4 bills it. The programme page for the episode first shown that day names her alongside Colin Murray, Rachel Riley and Susie Dent, and TVmaze's UK listing has it as Episode 76 at 2.10pm. She follows Maggie Aderin, who sat in the corner through the week of 5 October. Channel 4's episode list also names her for the programmes first shown on Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 October. The 2.10pm slot and catch-up options are on our Countdown page.

Is Tipping Point back at 4pm?

Not on Monday 12 October. ITV1's guide showed Deal or No Deal from 4pm to 5pm, the same swap that ran through the weeks of 28 September and 5 October. Why Tipping Point isn't on sets out the swap, and our Tipping Point time guide gives the normal slot.

How does a cell get filled?

Each value needs two independent sources saying the same thing. A University Challenge score waits for the BBC listing and a results archive, which can take days. Pointless and Countdown cells draw on the schedule and the broadcaster's own episode page, so they carry an episode number and a guest rather than a score. ITV publishes next to nothing on Chase and Tipping Point outcomes, and we don't fill those from memory. The finished grid for the previous five days is at UK quiz results, 5 to 9 October.
