What Time Is House of Games On? 6pm Weekdays, the Wales Slot, iPlayer and Michael Sheen

Quick answer: House of Games is on BBC Two at 6pm, Monday to Friday, and each episode reaches BBC iPlayer after it has aired. An episode runs 28 or 29 minutes. Michael Sheen has hosted since Monday 5 October 2026, and four celebrities play all five days of a week.
If you still type "Richard Osman's House of Games" into the search box, you have the right programme. It is listed by the BBC as plain House of Games now, because Osman stepped down after nine years and his name came off the title with him.
Series 10 opened on Monday 28 September 2026 with one last Osman week, played by four former winners. Sheen's run began the Monday after. Nothing about the slot changed with the host.
What time is House of Games on BBC Two?
6pm to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday. BBC Two's schedule has it at 6pm on all five weekdays from 5 to 9 October, on all five from 12 to 16 October and again at 6pm on Monday 19 October, with nothing listed on Saturday 10 or Sunday 11 October.
Running times on the BBC's pages are 28 minutes for some episodes and 29 for others. Every Series 10 episode shown so far went out at 6pm, so the slot has not moved once since the series began. It sits after the teatime quizzes on other channels: Tipping Point at 4pm, The Chase at 5pm and Pointless at 5.15pm are all finished by the time it starts.
Is House of Games on at a different time in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland?
Occasionally in Wales. On the BBC's page, the Friday 9 October episode is down for 6pm on "BBC Two except Wales" and 7.15pm on BBC Two Wales. That is the only regional difference on the BBC's pages for the first three weeks of Series 10.
All fourteen other listings we checked say simply "BBC Two", with no separate line for Scotland or Northern Ireland. That is unlike the Monday night quizzes: Mastermind and University Challenge are shown on a different day in Northern Ireland every week. Friday is the day a Welsh viewer can least afford to miss, since that is when the week's champion is crowned, and iPlayer covers it.
When does House of Games go on iPlayer?
After the BBC Two showing. Before an episode airs, its BBC page says it "will be available shortly after broadcast". Tuesday 6 October's episode was marked "Available now" when we looked later the same evening.
The back catalogue is large. We counted 137 available episodes on the programme page on Tuesday 6 October, seven of them from Series 10 and the rest from earlier runs. In its announcement of the new host, the BBC describes the programme as made "for BBC Two and BBC iPlayer", so the streaming side is part of the commission.

Who presents House of Games now?
Michael Sheen. His appointment was confirmed by the BBC on 16 March 2026, in a statement calling it the actor's first job as a quiz host, and his first episode was shown on Monday 5 October 2026.
Richard Osman had fronted the programme since it began in September 2017. He announced in March 2026 that he was leaving, BBC News reported, and said he would do one final week to hand over. That week was 28 September to 2 October. On its page for that week the BBC says he "hands over the baton to a new host". Remarkable Television is credited as the production company on the BBC's pages for Series 10.
How many episodes are in Series 10 of House of Games?
95. Each episode is numbered "of 95", and at five a week that comes to 19 weeks. Five of the 95 are Osman's farewell week, which leaves 90 for Sheen.
One number doesn't quite line up. Back in March the BBC said Sheen would record 100 episodes for broadcast later in the year, and the series is numbered at 95 including Osman's five. We couldn't find a BBC page that explains the gap, so we won't guess at it.
Our own arithmetic on dates: 19 unbroken weeks from 28 September would end on Friday 5 February 2027. Any week BBC Two skips pushes that later. Wikipedia's table for Series 9 shows 100 episodes spread from 29 September 2025 to 27 March 2026, so gaps are normal.
Who has been on House of Games in Series 10?
Names and dates below come from the BBC's page for each episode. Winners are left out, because we only list a result once two separate sources agree on it, and we never reproduce questions.
| Week | Dates (BBC Two, 6pm) | Host | Players the BBC lists |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mon 28 September to Fri 2 October | Richard Osman | Miles Jupp, Cariad Lloyd, Lucy Porter, Kiell Smith-Bynoe |
| 2 | Mon 5 to Fri 9 October | Michael Sheen | Stephen Mangan, Shona McGarty, Andi Peters, Nina Wadia |
| 3 | Mon 12 to Fri 16 October (scheduled) | Michael Sheen | Chizzy Akudolu, Stephen Bailey, Banjo Beale, Philippa Dunne |
| 4 | Mon 19 to Fri 23 October (scheduled) | Michael Sheen | Cheryl Baker, Rick Edwards, Toby Olubi, Lou Sanders |
The BBC describes the Week 1 four as previous winners. For the week beginning Monday 19 October, the BBC's episode guide, read on Sunday 11 October, lists Week 4 from Monday 19 to Friday 23 October with Cheryl Baker, Rick Edwards, Toby Olubi and Lou Sanders, and BBC Two's schedule has the Monday episode at 6pm. The BBC's billing for the week names Michael Sheen as host.
How does a week of House of Games work?
The same four celebrities play on all five days. In the BBC's short summary, a daily winner is declared after a quickfire round at the end of each show, the scores are tallied across the week, and an overall champion is crowned on Friday.
Wikipedia's account of the format fills in the rest. Each day has five rounds, the second is played in pairs, and the last is always Answer Smash. Daily placings convert to 4, 3, 2 and 1 points on the weekly board, and those are doubled on Friday to 8, 6, 4 and 2. So a player who trails all week can still take the trophy on the last day.
Prizes are part of the joke. Each daily winner picks one branded object, and the BBC's Series 10 pages mention a decanter, a dartboard and a record player.
Questions readers ask
Is it still called Richard Osman's House of Games?
No. Series 10 is listed by the BBC as House of Games, and Wikipedia notes the longer title was used for the first nine series. Older episodes on iPlayer are still Osman's.
Is House of Games on at weekends?
Not in the weeks we checked. BBC Two's schedule for Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October has no episode, new or repeated.
Are the 6pm episodes new?
Yes. Series 10 episodes carry the BBC's "New" label, and each one in the first three weeks has a single BBC Two showing apart from the later Welsh slot on 9 October.
What else is on for quiz fans?
Monday evenings on the same channel bring Only Connect at 8pm, and Countdown fills the early afternoon on Channel 4. Our day-by-day quiz list has every weekday slot and the round-up for the week of 5 October records what was shown. More explainers are in the UK Quiz Guide, and our sister site keeps a night-by-night soap guide for the hours after 6.30pm.
