How to Watch The Chase Tonight: 5pm on ITV1, ITVX Catch-Up and Why It's Sometimes Not On

Short version: The Chase is on ITV1 every weekday from 5pm to 6pm, straight after Tipping Point. You can stream it live or catch up on ITVX once it has aired. Series 19 started on Monday 7 September with all six Chasers back.

What time is The Chase on tonight?
5pm, Monday to Friday, for an hour. We checked ITV's own TV guide for every day from 14 to 18 September and the slot doesn't budge: Tipping Point at 4pm, The Chase at 5pm, then regional news at 6pm.
That makes it the second half of ITV1's teatime quiz double bill. If you like to flick, BBC One's Pointless starts at 5.15pm, so the two overlap for 45 minutes.
| Day | Date | ITV1 slot | Before |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 14 Sep | 5pm–6pm | Tipping Point, 4pm |
| Tuesday | 15 Sep | 5pm–6pm | Tipping Point, 4pm |
| Wednesday | 16 Sep | 5pm–6pm | Tipping Point, 4pm |
| Thursday | 17 Sep | 5pm–6pm | Tipping Point, 4pm |
| Friday | 18 Sep | 5pm–6pm | Tipping Point, 4pm |
Our full week on UK quiz TV puts this next to Countdown, Pointless and Monday's BBC Two block.
Is The Chase a new series?
Yes. Series 19 launched on Monday 7 September, according to ITV's preview pack as published by TV Zone UK. Bradley Walsh is still in the host's chair.
The bench hasn't changed either. The Governess, The Vixen, The Menace, The Dark Destroyer, The Beast and The Sinnerman all return, which means any given teatime could bring any one of six very different opponents.
Can I watch The Chase on ITVX?
You can. ITVX carries the ITV1 live stream at 5pm, and each episode lands in catch-up after it airs. The official YouTube channel posts short highlights too, but not full episodes.
No ITVX account yet? It's free to sign up for the ad-supported tier, and that's all you need for The Chase.

Why is The Chase not on today?
Nine times out of ten the answer is sport. ITV1 hands its afternoon to live coverage now and then (big racing meetings, some football, occasionally tennis), and the teatime quizzes are the programmes that make room.
What happens to the skipped episode is ITV's call, and it isn't always announced in advance. We check the ITV1 guide every morning and flag any change in our tonight's quiz rundown the morning it happens.
This week there's one fixture worth knowing about. Manchester United v Brighton in the Carabao Cup is live on ITV1 on Wednesday 16 September, but coverage runs from 7.30pm to 10.25pm. The Chase keeps its 5pm slot that day.
When is Beat the Chasers back?
Not soon, it seems. ITV had said the eighth series would air in 2026, but TV Zone UK reports that it's now likely to slip to early 2027. ITV's only comment was that scheduling is confirmed "closer to transmission".
In the meantime older runs are on ITVX. Beat the Chasers is the primetime spin-off where one contestant takes on several Chasers at once, with offers of time against money.
The other spin-off this year was The Chase Around The World, a summer series in which pairs of contestants hunted the six Chasers across the globe. Neither spin-off takes the 5pm slot, so the daytime show carries on regardless.
How does The Chase work?
Four contestants, one Chaser, roughly 60 minutes. Each player starts with a one-minute cash builder, then goes head to head with the Chaser on a board of steps.
The Chaser offers a bigger sum to start closer to them, or a lower one to start further away. Get home before being caught and the money goes into the team pot; get caught and you're out.
Whoever makes it through plays the final chase together: two minutes to set a target, then the Chaser gets two minutes to beat it. Our Tipping Point page covers the 4pm show that comes before it.
Who went through on tonight's Chase?
We don't reprint questions, but we do track the outcome of each episode: how much the team banked and whether they beat the Chaser. Those posts go under Results, and everything else on the show lives on our Chase page.
