Where to Watch Abbott Elementary in the UK: Disney+ Has It, but Season 6 Comes Late

Week of 12 October 2026 — season 6 started on ABC in the US on Wednesday 7 October (TVmaze's listing). Disney+ UK carries seasons 1 to 5, and we found no UK date for season 6 in a search on Monday 12 October. Disney+ Standard with Ads is £5.99 a month for now. Disney's small print says it goes to £6.99 a month in October without giving the day; the dated change is the six-month saver, which rises from £4.99 to £5.99 a month from 14 October. Checked on Monday 12 October against TVmaze and press reports, and on Wednesday 30 September against Disney+ UK's series page and Cordbusters' price report.

Quick answer: Abbott Elementary is on Disney+ in the UK and nowhere else. No British TV channel shows it. New seasons don't arrive week by week with America either: Disney+ adds them in two batches, and the first batch of season 5 landed 11 weeks after the US premiere.

Where can I watch Abbott Elementary in the UK?

On Disney+. The UK series page lists five seasons, running through to season 5's 22nd episode, and gives the show a 12+ rating. Flicks, the UK streaming guide, described season 5 as exclusive to Disney+ here.

That makes it a different proposition from the programmes we usually cover. Catch-up for The Chase and Tipping Point is free on ITVX, Pointless is free on iPlayer and Countdown is free on Channel 4's streaming service. Abbott Elementary needs a paid subscription.

What channel is Abbott Elementary on in the UK?

There isn't one. We couldn't find a BBC, ITV, Channel 4 or Sky listing for any season, and the Disney+ exclusivity explains why.

In the United States it's a network sitcom. ABC shows it on Wednesdays at 8.30pm Eastern time, and episodes reach Hulu the next day. Hulu isn't sold as a standalone service in the UK, so that route doesn't exist here.

When does Abbott Elementary season 6 come out in the UK?

Not yet confirmed. Disney has announced the American date, Wednesday 7 October 2026 on ABC, and a run of 22 episodes. It hasn't said when Disney+ UK gets them. NME expects a rollout like last season's.

Last season is the best guide we have, so here's what happened, with the gaps counted by us.

Put simply, Disney+ UK waited for ABC's autumn run to finish and released it in one go a week later. It did the same in spring, three weeks after the finale. The May date comes from Reelgood's UK listing; NME gives the month only.

If season 6 copied that to the day, 77 days from 7 October is Wednesday 23 December 2026. That's our arithmetic, not an announcement. It depends on when ABC pauses for winter, which hasn't been published.

Does Disney+ UK add Abbott Elementary episodes weekly?

No, and this is what catches people out. American viewers get one episode a week from October to April. UK viewers got nothing for 11 weeks last season, then eight episodes at once, then nothing again until the final 14 arrived together.

Disney hasn't explained the delay publicly, as far as we can find, so we won't guess at the reason. The practical effect is simple: by the time an episode reaches the UK, it's been discussed online for weeks. Mute the show's name on social media if you care about spoilers.

How much does Disney+ cost in the UK?

These were the monthly prices when we checked on 30 September 2026. Every tier includes all five seasons.

Cordbusters reported the ad-tier rise on 24 September and said no change to the two ad-free plans had been confirmed. Existing subscribers move to the new price later, after notice from Disney.

Because episodes arrive in blocks, there's no need to stay subscribed all year just for this show. Eight episodes of about 22 minutes each is roughly three hours of television, so one month covers a batch comfortably.

Who's back for Abbott Elementary season 6?

Disney's announcement lists the full main cast: Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill and William Stanford Davis as Mr Johnson.

TVmaze names the opener "Jungle Classroom" and the second episode, a week later in the US, "Check-Ins". Disney's one-line tease is that new pupils bring the teachers a fresh set of problems.

Can I catch up on seasons 1 to 5 first?

Yes. All five are on Disney+ UK now, and season 5 closes with an episode called "Miami". With no UK date for season 6, there's time.
